Meet the rest of the group at Sydney’s Central Station and board the XPT for your journey to
Melbourne. On arrival you will make your way to your accommodation.

SAT 8 DEC Melbourne to Devonport
Today you have a day at leisure to explore Melbourne. This evening you will board the Spirit of
Tasmania in Port Melbourne for your 7.30pm departure to Devonport.

SUN 9 DEC Launceston
Arrive into Devonport this morning at 7.30am, where you will be met and commence your touring. Make a stop at Cataract Gorge followed by an orientation tour of Launceston before checking into your hotel.

MON 10 DEC Cradle Mountain
After a hearty breakfast, you will travel to Cradle Mountain on the way making a stop at the Ashgrove Cheese Factory at Elizabethtown. After lunch you will be taken up to Waldheim and gorgeous Dove Lake to see spectacular Cradle Mountain. The afternoon is free to explore the Australian National Wilderness and Landscape Gallery or just marvel at the view and breathe in the fresh air.

TUE 11 DEC Queenstown
Travel to Queenstown for your Rail Journey with West Coast Rail. Today you will travel to the fishing village of Strahan on the Macquarie Harbour where you will cruise the Gordon River, including lunch. You’ll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters, stained amber by buttongrass tannins, reflecting the untouched wilderness and be amazed by the 2,000 year old Huon Pine at Heritage Landing. The afternoon is at your leisure.

WED 12 DEC Queenstown to Hobart
Depart Queenstown and travel to Mt Field National Park, the site of the spectacular Russell Falls. Make a stop at the Wall in the Wilderness to discover the amazing work by Greg Duncan. A work in progress, The Wall is being carved from three-metre high wooden panels. The carved panels will tell the history of the harsh Central Highlands region. Today you will travel to Cascade Brewery for a tour. It’s been called a must-do Hobart experience. Here you’ll learn about Australia’s oldest brewery, its finest beers, the brewing process and a little something our brewers call ‘The Feel”. Intertwine it with some of the brewers’ stories and the beautiful ‘Woodstock’ gardens, before topping it off with a real taste of history - a fresh one directly from the taps. Enjoy the remainder of your afternoon
at leisure.

Discover the Huon Trail, the perfect touring route to take you around the area to the south of Hobart. In just a short drive, you will find a world of extensive and serene waterways, wild coastlines, quiet farmlands, boutique vineyards, and rugged but accessible World Heritage wilderness. This afternoon you will take a walk on the spectacular Tahune Forest Airwalk. (BD)

Today we’ll cruise around the Isle of the Dead and then take a fascinating guided walk of the Historic site and prison.

TUE 18 DEC Freycinet National Park
Get your camera ready for the spectacular and breathtaking – Freycinet National Park. We’ll take a guided walk with a National Park Ranger that will unveil astonishing views across brilliant blue water,forest and golden beach. Cape Tourville Lookout will astound.

is a well known travel identity and tour host who has been working in the travel industry for over 30 years. Most recently Shirley has worked for Great Southern Rail (The Ghan, Indian Pacific and the Overland) promoting the romance and enjoyment of rail travel on these iconic trains. Prior to this, she was State Manager for 14 years, with well known international coach company, Trafalgar Tours. Shirley easily develops relationships with people of all ages and has enjoyed escorting numerous groups of travelers both within Australia and overseas. With her passion for travel and wealth of knowledge you can be assured of a worry free and truly memorable holiday experience.
GENERAL INFO & BOOKING CONDITIONS
DEPOSIT of $500 per person is required at the time of booking.
FULL PAYMENT will be due 65 days prior to departure. Bookings made after this date, will require immediate payment. Credit card payment will incur a surcharge of 2% for Visa and Mastercard payments. Pensioner prices are valid for holders of either Centrelink Pensioner Cards or Commonwealth Senior Health Care Cards. Senior prices are valid for holders of Great Southern Rail Senior Cards. Application forms are available from your consultant for this card.
TRAVEL INSURANCE is recommended to cover the cost of cancellation due to illness, death in the family, etc.
MINIMUM TOUR NUMBERS are required for this tour to run at the advertised cost. If 20 passengers have not booked by 65 days prior to departure then it may be necessary to either cancel the tour or offer similar arrangements on an unescorted basis.
HOSTING ex Adelaide will occur should the numbers departing from Sydney exceed 15 passengers. Should the number be below this then hosting will begin from Adelaide.
SHARE STRANGER may be available if there is another traveller of the same sex who also wants to share with a stranger, however should no match be available the single price will apply.
CANCELLATION fees will apply. Once bookings are confirmed a cancellation fee of $500 per passenger will apply. Cancellation after the 20th of January, will incur a fee of $1000 per passenger plus any additional charges imposed by principals involved in operating the tour. Therefore, the cancellation fee may be up to the total cost. No itemisation of tour costs can be given.
REFUNDS are not available should you not utilise any sightseeing tours, accommodation, meals or other service listed as an inclusion in this tour.

We act only as an agent for passengers in the making of arrangements with carriers, hoteliers and others for the tour.
